Personal Reflection

From My Heart to Yours

I still remember the first time I walked the lanes of Shantinagar — not as a politician, but as a son of Kerala who found a home here. The auto-driver who shared his chai, the street vendor who remembered my name, the mother who asked me to fix her son's scholarship — these moments didn't just shape my politics. They shaped my soul.

I was brought up with Congress values from childhood, shaped by public life, student leadership, and the belief that politics must serve people before it serves power. Bengaluru gave me a home, and Shantinagar gave me a purpose.

For 18 years, you've trusted me with your hopes. I've carried them like a sacred duty — in the Assembly, in the BDA, on football fields, and in quiet corners of our constituency where change begins with a handshake.

This isn't my story. It's ours. And it's far from over.

Upbringing in Public Service

Public life was not something I entered later. It was part of my upbringing. My father, N.A. Mohammed, was the President of Bhadravathi Municipality from 1968 to 1972. I grew up watching service, listening to people, and learning that leadership means responsibility.

Education & Student Leadership

I pursued my MA in History and became a student leader at Vijaya College, Bangalore. Those years taught me that change doesn't come from speeches — it comes from showing up, day after day, for the people who trust you.

My political journey began in the early 1990s, when I joined the Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee. I served as General Secretary from 1992 to 1995, and then as Vice-President from 1995 to 2006. Those years were about learning, organizing, and understanding what youth really need.

I was a Pradesh Congress Committee Member for Shivajinagar from 1999 to 2009, and for Shantinagar from 2009 onwards. In 2004, I contested the Shantinagar Assembly election. In 2008, you elected me as your MLA for the first time.

You re-elected me in 2013, 2018, and 2023. Four consecutive terms. That's not just a political record — that's a relationship built on trust, accountability, and shared dreams.
